Entrigue and Fiagon Partner to Develop ENT Technologies

The companies will begin by focusing on Entrigue’s sinus dilation system.

Entrigue Surgical Inc., headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, has entered a collaboration agreement with Fiagon GmbH, a company based in Berlin, Germany, that develops and manufactures “intelligent” and portable navigation systems for ear nose and throat (ENT), oral and maxillofacial surgery and neurosurgery. For its part, Entrigue is focused on the ENT market. As part of their partnership, Entrigue and Fiagon will explore the delivery of integrated navigation and therapy solutions for ENT procedures starting in Europe with Entrigue’s Ventera Sinus Dilation System.

The Ventera System includes a single-use balloon delivered by one of several reusable instruments using Entrigue’s proprietary SerpENT articulating technology and does not require either manual tip shaping or the use of a guide wire or cannula to deliver the balloon into various sinuses, claims Entrigue. The company also asserts that Ventera is the only balloon system that can be inserted transnasally and then articulated in-place to best access any sinus cavity. The combination of real-time navigation with balloon dilation is expected to significantly enhance the capability of ENT surgeons to perform minimally invasive sinus surgery.

“Integrating Fiagon’s navigation to our sinus dilation platform will provide the ENT surgeon with an unparalleled level of confirmation of balloon position within the sinus anatomy,” said Fred Dinger, Entrigue CEO. “We look forward to collaborating with Fiagon to combine two game-changing platforms with the goal of bringing easy-to-use, cost effective technologies to the sinus surgery market.”

Together with Fiagon’s Dynamic Navigation System, Ventera will be on display in Entrigue’s booth at the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery meeting in Washington, D.C. to be held Sept. 9-12. At present, the Ventera Sinus Dilation System is available only in a limited number of countries in Europe and Canada, and is not available for sale in the United States. The Dynamic Navigation System from Fiagon currently is available in some countries in Europe.
